Can I have breakfast?
You can have breakfast in our Bistro at our the salt _ townhouse, which has the following opening-hours:
- Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm
- Saturdays 8am to 2pm
- Closed on Sundays and public holidays
You can also find various Cafés and bakeries within walking distance of our three houses.
Where can I park?
Easy parking in Hallein:
There is a short-term/blue parking zone (limited to 90 minutes) between 7am and 7pm in all of Hallein. Get ticket from ticket machine.
Parking is free from Saturday 12noon until Sunday night and on public holidays.
Attention! Kornsteinplatz Farmers Market! No parking on Fridays after 12noon and Saturday mornings until noon! Your car will be towed!

At all three houses: Please move your car right after unloading to public parking: Pernerinsel, Mauttorpromenade 12, 5400 Hallein
Do you accommodate travel groups?
the salt is the perfect home base for groups of friends, family reunions, groups on arts & cultural excursions as well as for sports, oldtimer- or motorcycle clubs. At the salt there are many good ways to spend time together comfortably. Feel free to ask us about our group specials.
Traveling with children?
Quality time with your kids – all year round and in any weather! There is much to discover and explore around the area. Let us know how old your children are when booking, and we will be happy to provide you with useful recommendations.
0-2 years: baby equipment on request, if available: baby-bed with high-quality mattress, blanket and pillow, high chair, changing mat.
You’ll find toy boxes and baby-baths to borrow in our laundry room (please return the complete set upon departure).
Can I host an event or a seminar in the salt?
Yes, that is what the salzkammer in our the salt _ townhouse is for. State-of-the-art event technology, original vaulted ceilings, a comfortable lounge area and a catering bar make it the perfect place for up to 40 people. We are happy to plan your event with you! Is there WiFi?
Free high-speed internet is available in all three houses.
Are there snacks and drinks?
In Austria, tap water is fresh, crystal clear and drinkable. There is a vending machine for soft drinks on the ground floor of the salt _ residences and at the Bistro at our the salt _ townhouse you can find snacks and drinks.
Is smoking allowed?
Smoking (including e-cigarettes) is not permitted anywhere inside the salt buildings. There are ashtrays located at the front entrance of each one of our houses. (Thank you for using them).
Are pets allowed?
Up to two dogs per apartment are welcome to stay with us (please bring your own equipment). An additional fee of 20€ will be charged. Please let us know already at time of booking, if you want to bring your dog.
What is the mobile TennengauPlus Card?
When booking with us, you will receive, close to your arrival-time, the mobile TennnengauPlus Card on your phone. It offers many benefits, such as free public transport in the area and to the city of Salzburg.

The Hallein train station is about a 9-minute walk away.
Where is the next bike rental?

Where is the nearest airport?
The Salzburg Airport “Wolfgang Amadeus” is only a 20-minute drive away, Munich Airport can be reached in 2 hours by car.
What are the salt _ residences and the salt_vis à vis?
the salt _ residences is a renovated historic house in the old town, with 10 self-care apartments, all with different layouts, for up to four guests.
The four apartments on the 2nd floor are especially unique, as they each feature a private roof terrace.
It wasn’t possible to install an elevator in this historic building, which is why we have kept the original stone staircase.
the salt _ vis à vis is also a renovated historic building in the old town, with 8 self-care apartments, all with different layout, for up to 4 guests.
One gallery-apartment on the second floor has the unique feature of a covered outside-patio.
Also in this historic building it wasn’t possible to install an elevator, which is why we have kept the original stone staircase.

Can I book a specific apartment?
Because of varied room-layouts and different furnishing, you can only book a certain room-category. We will do our best to find the most fitting solution for you.
When is check-in / check-out?
Check-in starts at 3pm
Check-out until 11am at the latest.
Deviating times are only possible through previous arrangement and depending on availability.
May I store my luggage prior to check-in?
On your day of arrival you may store your luggage with us already starting at 8am.
May I store my luggage after check-out?
On your day of departure, you can leave your luggage with us until 8pm.
Are there quiet times for the apartments?
Our aim is for all our guests to have a pleasant stay, which is why there is quiet time from 10pm until 7am. Parties are not permitted. Thank you for your understanding.
Is there storage for bikes, skis, or strollers?
You can store bikes, skis and strollers with us on the ground floor of the building.
How do you handle recycling?
On the ground floor of the salt _ residences there is a recycling station for both houses: containers for paper, plastic, glass, organic waste and residual waste. Please separate your garbage accordingly and dispose of it in the appropriate containers.
Are bed linen and towels provided?
You will be welcomed with fresh bed linen and fluffy towels. Please do not use the towels for pets or outside activities. We ask you to bring your own swimming towels.
Is there a hair dryer?
There is a hair dryer in every bathroom.
What does the laundry room have to offer?
You will find our laundry room for guests on the ground floor of the salt _ residences. It also serves our guests from the salt _ vis à vis.
It is equipped with washing machine, dryer, iron, ironing board, vacuum cleaner and sink.
In addition, you will find the “baking boxes” and “toy boxes” to borrow here. We ask that you return them in complete and tidy fashion.
Are there cleaning utensils in the apartment?
In our self-care apartments, you are provided with a “starter kit”: kitchen roll, dishwashing liquid, hand and shower soap, a few dishwasher tabs, a few coffee filters, vinegar, oil, salt, pepper, sugar, some coffee powder, vinegar-based cleaning agent, cleaning rags, bucket, broom, drying rack and a laundry basket.
What is the salt _ townhouse?
the salt _ townhouse is the heart of the salt, with a guest lounge on the ground floor, the event room salzkammer and our bistro.
On three floors it offers
- 1 single-bed room
- 8 double rooms
- 2 lofts for up to four people
- 8 suites for two and up to six people
and has an elevator
the salt _ townhouse is located in the center of Hallein’s old town, in a completely renovated historic building.

Can I book a specific room or suite?
Because of varied room-layouts and furnishing, you can only book into a category of a suite or room.
We will do our best to find the most convenient solution for you.

What is the kitchenette equipped with?
A fridge without freezer, dishwasher, portable induction cooker, water boiler, toaster, Nespresso machine for tabs, garbage collector, water glasses, wine glasses, champagne glasses, teacups, espresso cups, dinner plates, dessert plates, cereal bowls, pots, pans, silverware, etc. There is a large freezer in the laundry room.
Is there storage for bikes, skis, or strollers?
You can store bikes, skis and strollers with us on the ground floor of the building.
How do you handle recycling?
We ask you to separate and place the waste in your rooms/suites into the provided bags; these are being emptied by our housekeeping staff every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Are bed linen and towels provided?
You will be welcomed with fresh bed linen and fluffy towels. Please do not use the towels for pets or outside activities. We ask you to bring your own swimming towels.
Is there a hair dryer?
There is a hair dryer in every bathroom.
What does the laundry room have to offer?
Our laundry room for guests is located on the 2nd floor: In addition to two washing machines and two dryers, you’ll also find an iron and ironing board, a drying rack, a large freezer with drawers, baby equipment, a vacuum cleaner, brooms, brushes, and a large sink.
In addition, you will find “play boxes” to borrow for your children. We ask that you return these in complete and tidy fashion.
When does cleaning take place?
In the salt _ townhouse we change your bathroom towels every four days.
On the 8th day of your stay we change bed-linens and do an interim-cleaning of your room/suite.
Additional cleaning service is available for a surcharge.
