What’s the difference between the salt_ residences and the salt_ townhouse?
the salt_residences has 10 self-care apartments, which include a kitchen.
the salt_townhouse features 7 self-care suits with a kitchenette, 1 single room, 8 double rooms, and 2 lofts for 4 people each.
Can I have breakfast?
Ask us about breakfast options in the area. Cafés and bakeries are within walking distance.
Where can I park?
Easy parking in Hallein: The whole town of Hallein is a blue parking zone (max. 90 minutes with a parking ticket from the ticket machine, between 7.00 – 19.00, from 12.00 on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays are free of charge).
the salt_residences: There are 2 parking spaces for quick loading and unloading in front of the building.
the salt_townhouse: There is a loading zone just a few meters from the entrance (Kuffergasse 1 for your GPS)
Both buildings: please move to one of the nearby parking lots mentioned below after 15 minutes.
Do you accommodate travel groups?
the salt is the perfect home base for groups of friends, family reunions, groups enjoying an arts & cultural excursion, as well as sports, old timer or motorcycle clubs. There are many ways to spend time together comfortably. Feel free to ask us about our group specials.
Traveling with children?
Quality time with the kids – all year round and in any weather! There is so much to discover and explore around the area. Let us know how old your children are when booking, and we’ll provide some suitable recommendations.
0-2 years: baby equipment on request, if available: baby bed with high-quality mattress, blanket and pillow, highchair, changing mat.
You’ll find toy boxes and baby baths to borrow in our laundry room (please return the complete set properly upon departure).
Can I host an event or a seminar in the salt?
Yes, that is what our event room “salzkammer” is for. State of the art seminar technology, original vaulted ceilings, a comfortable lounge area and a catering bar make it the perfect place for up to 40 people. We’re happy to plan your event with you personally and comprehensively at stay@thesalt-hallein.com.
Is there WIFI?
Free high-speed internet is available in all areas.
Are there snacks and drinks?
In Austria, tap water is fresh, crystal clear and drinkable. There is a vending machine on the ground floor of “the salt_residences”. The “salzkraemerei” bistro is located on the ground floor of the salt_townhouse.
Is smoking allowed?
Smoking (including e-cigarettes) is not permitted anywhere inside the salt buildings. There are ashtrays situated in front of the main entrances (thank you for using them).
Are pets allowed?
Up to two dogs per apartment are welcome to stay with us (please bring your own equipment). An additional fee of € 25, – will be charged. Please let us know you are bringing your dog when booking. Also, check out our “dog on tour” section.
What is the Mobile TennengauPlus Card?
When booking with us, you’ll receive the Mobile TennnengauPlus Card on your phone shortly before arriving. It offers many benefits, such as free public transportation (even to the city of Salzburg). If you are planning an extended stay, we recommend you get the Salzburg Land Card.

Where is the next train station?
The Hallein train station is about a 9-minute walk away.
Where is the next bike rental?

Where is the nearest airport?
The Salzburg Airport “Wolfgang Amadeus” is only a 20-minute drive away, Munich Airport can be reached in 2 hours by car.
What are „the salt_residences”?
“the salt_residences” is a renovated historical town house with 10 self-care apartments for up to four guests, with different layouts.
The four apartments on the 2nd floor are especially unique, as they feature a private roof terrace. It wasn’t possible to install an elevator in this historic, listed building, which is why we’ve preserved the original stone staircase.

Can I book a specific apartment?
You can book three different apartment categories:
two apartments “just the two of us”,
four apartments “family & friends” on the 1st floor, and
four apartments “on top of Hallein” on the 2nd floor,
with varying sleeping arrangements and lofts. We will prepare the most fitting apartment for you before you arrive.
When is check-in / check-out?
Check-in is from 15.00, check-out until 11.00. Deviating times are only possible by arrangement and availability.
May I store my luggage prior to check-in?
You may store your luggage with us on the ground floor from 08.00 on your day of arrival.
May I store my luggage after check-out?
You may store your luggage with us until 20.00 on your day of departure.
Are there quiet times for the apartments?
Our aim is for all our guests to have a pleasant stay, which is why there is a quiet time from 22.00 until 07.00. Parties are not permitted. Thank you for your understanding.
Is there storage for bikes, skis, or strollers?
You can store bikes, skis as well as other sports equipment and strollers on the ground floor.
How do you handle recycling?
There are recycling containers for paper, plastic, glass, organic waste, and residual waste on the ground floor. Please separate your garbage accordingly and dispose of it in the appropriate containers.
Are bed linen and towels provided?
You’ll be welcomed with fresh bed linen and fluffy towels. Please do not use the towels for pets or outside activities. We kindly ask you to bring your own swimming towels. If you would like additional towels or bed linen during your stay, please let us know when booking.
Is there a hair dryer?
There is a hair dryer in the bathroom.
What does the laundry room have to offer?
You will find our laundry room for guests on the ground floor. It is equipped with a washing machine, dryer, iron, ironing board, vacuum cleaner, and sink. Additionally, you’ll find the “baking boxes” and “toy boxes” to borrow here. We kindly ask that you return them in a complete and tidy fashion.
Are there cleaning utensils in the apartment?
In the self-care apartments, you are provided with a “starter kit”: kitchen roll, washing-up liquid, hand and shower soap, a few dishwasher tabs, a few coffee filters, vinegar, oil, salt, pepper, sugar, some coffee powder, vinegar-based cleaning agent, cleaning rags, a bucket, broom, drying rack and a laundry basket are provided.
What is the salt_townhouse?
“the salt_townhouse” is the heart of “the salt”, with a guest lounge on the ground floor, the event room “salzkammer”, the day bistro “salzkraemerei” and a total of 18 suits, double and 4-bed rooms spread across three floors. It is located in the center of Hallein’s old town, in a completely renovated historic building.
Where is “the salt_townhouse”?
The exact address is: Thunstrasse 12, 5400 Hallein. “the salt_townhouse” is only 300m from “the salt_residences”.
Can I book a specific room or suite?
We’ve renovated two historic buildings, preserving spatial characteristics in the process. That’s why you always book a room category, and then we do our best to provide the suite or room you wish for.

What is the kitchenette equipped with?
A fridge without freezer, dishwasher, portable induction cooker, water boiler, toaster, Nespresso machine for tabs, garbage collector, water glasses, wine glasses, champagne glasses, teacups, espresso cups, dinner plates, dessert plates, cereal bowls, pots, pans, silverware, etc. There is a large freezer in the in the laundry room.
Is there storage for bikes, skis, or strollers?
You can store bikes, skis, as well as other sports equipment and strollers upon request.
How do you handle recycling?
There are recycling containers in the suits and apartments, which are emptied by our cleaning staff every three days.
Are bed linen and towels provided?
Yes, we will welcome you with fresh bed linen and fluffy towels.
Is there a hair dryer?
Yes, you will find a hair dryer in the bathroom.
What does the laundry room have to offer?
Our laundry room for guests is located on the 2nd floor: In addition to two washing machines and two dryers, you’ll also find an iron, ironing board, washing stand, a large freezer with drawers, baby equipment, a vacuum cleaner, brooms, brushes, and a large sink.
When does cleaning take place?
The garbage in the apartment is emptied and towels are replaced every three days. Bed linen is changed every six days. If you would like to book an extra service, please just let us know and we will arrange it for a surcharge.
